Indian Institute of Technology (IIT – Bombay) often grants summer internship for computer science students. Duration of the program is 8 weeks. Graduates in streams like Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics can normally apply for this program. It is compulsory for candidates to complete 3rd year of graduation to take part in this internship program. Selection of eligible candidates is done on the basis of their academic performance, reputation of the institute (where they are studying), and major technical accomplishments.

Eligibility Criteria for Summer Internship in IIT Bombay

In order to avail Summer Internship program organized by IIT Bombay, applicants need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria’s –

• Graduate degree in any of the streams like Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics.

• It is compulsory for applicants to complete the third year of graduation course within the month of April/May 2013. Those applicants who have finished second year of graduate studies will also be considered for this internship program, provided they attain outstanding academic records and other major achievements.

• Those applicants having good experience in core technical areas such as programming and hardware design will also be considered for this program.

Selection Procedure for Summer Internship in IIT Bombay

The academic performance of the student and their major technical accomplishments is basically considered while selecting candidates to internship program. The students having experience in dominant technical areas such as software design, hardware design and development work will be more preferred. Another basis of internship selection is the reputation of the college, where the candidate is pursuing their studies. Performance of the past students (in the college) in GATE examination is also considered. The total applications received for this internship program will be scrutinized on the above mentioned points and a provisional list of chosen candidates will be published. Such candidates need to submit copies of the following documents-

• Recommendation letter approved by the faculty of the concerned department
• Internship Approval Letter from either Principal/Director/Head of the Department for the specific period

Details of Fees for Summer Internship in IIT Bombay

• Total Internship Fees – Rs 6,000/-
• Total Hostel Room rent – Rs 2, 200/-
• Approximate Fee for Food – Rs 100/- per day
• Additional Fees – Rs 20/- per day

IIT is responsible for the payment of the internship fees Rs 6,000/- on the behalf of the candidate. Those candidates who are able to complete the internship program successfully, within 8 weeks will be paid with an honorarium of Rs. 8000/-.
