Architecture is the science of designing buildings, temples, and other such structures. Those who practice this are called as Architects. The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) is an undergraduate course which is offered by universities all over India and Abroad. There are many examinations which are conducted for these institutions for the admission of candidates into their B.Arch (Bachelor’s) and M.Arch (Master’s) degree programs. The details are given below.

List of Entrance exams

All India Engineering/Architecture entrance Exam - Candidates who are applying for the AIEEE must have cleared the final examination of Class XII or its equal. Those candidates who are appearing for the final year exam can also appear fore the exam.

State entrance examination SEE-UPTU- Those who are appearing for the entrance exam must have passed their class 10+2 examination or it’s equal from any recognized University or Board. They should have secured a minimum of 50% marks.

Measi Academy of Architecture Entrance Exam – The Candidate appearing for this exam must have cleared the class 10+2 exams with a minimum of 60% in PCM. Candidates who are appearing for the final examinations cam also apply. The age limit is 21 years.

NATA B.Arch Entrance Exam - Candidates who are applying for this examination should have passed the class 10+2 exam with Mathematics as a subject or have completed their Diploma course from recognized University or Board. They should have secured a minimum of 50% marks. Those candidates with the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD) having secured a minimum of 50% marks and have studied Math’s as a subject can also apply.

Maharashtra Architecture Common Entrance Test – The candidate should be a citizen of India and must have cleared standard XII examination of Maharashtra State Board with Mathematics as a subject. They should have scored a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks for candidates of the ST/SC/OBC category belonging to Maharashtra state only).

Career Prospects

The career opportunities of architects are very vast. An architect can get employed in the maintenance sector. They can do the restoration work and erection of buildings, residences, industries belonging to individuals etc and in addition to that, could work on the private and public properties belonging to both the government and non government sectors in our State. Graduates in architecture can find jobs in Government departments like the Department of Railways, Post and Telegraph, the Public Works Department etc. The initial salary of graduates will be around Rs. 10000 - 12000 per month. With skill and expertise, the remuneration may rise up to Rs.15000 - 20000 per month. But, it may vary according to the talent of the candidate and the work that is involved. The pay scale of architects who are practicing through their own companies is more when compared to that of Govt. sectors. Those who work as consultants can earn a lot too.
