Difference between Nanotechnology and Nanoscience
Both the Nanotechnology and Nanoscience are the research oriented areas which needs good focus from the aspirants side. Even though the two fields deals in the same area, there are lots of differences between them. Nanotechnology is said to be the engineering field which involves the study of nano objects and its application in diverse fields. Nanoscience is the field which is all about the study and research about the nano objects and related issues.
Nanotechnology Course and Career opportunities
Nanotechnology is the engineering field which involves the study of matters at atomic and molecular scale. Usually it deals the matters which are sized between 1 and 100 nanometers. It includes all the technologies and equipments that make up with a nanoscale design that utilizes the features at molecular scale. The nanotechnology focuses on the diverse properties such as strength, thermal and electrical conductance, reactivity and buoyancy of the materials, using its nanoscale behavior, to design and manufacture useful products.
There are generally two approaches in this field, known as the top-down approach and bottom-up approach. Different other concepts like molecular machines and self assembly are also utilized in nanotechnology. It is applied in many different areas which include healthcare, agricultural industries, automobile, IT, etc. Numerous government departments, organizations and universities nowadays have started investing a lot of money in the nanotechnology research field.
Nanoscience Course and Career opportunities
Nanoscience is a science field which also focuses in the study of materials whose size is less than 100 nanometers. This is multi disciplinary field which combines the knowledge of several areas such as physics, chemistry, biology and engineering. The characteristics of the objects are altered when it goes to a nanometer scale size and the applied rules will not be the same as when it is larger in size.
The nanoscience field involves in observing the governing laws of the nanos ized objects, developing the theoretical models to explain the features of these nano sized objects and investigating its properties. Another significant fact is that, the knowledge in nanoscience is used by the nanotechnology for various purposes.
Key differentiators between Nanotechnology and Nanoscience
- Nanotechnology is the engineering field which manipulates and utilizes the nanoscale objects for manufacturing various useful products whereas Nanoscience is the field which involves the study of behavior and related issues of nanoscale materials and thus deriving the governing laws and theoretical explanations.
- Nanotechnology is the field which utilizes the knowledge in nanoscience and is applied to diverse areas whereas Nanoscience is all about the study and observations of nanoscale materials.
Although Nanotechnology and Nanoscience are the research areas which deal with the same materials, there are lots of differences between them.
