Structure of M.Sc (Engineering) program
First term
In this term, the guide and course for the research needs to be selected. Usually at least one mathematical or mathematical oriented course is selected during this term.
Second term
Students can select any advanced course during this term, if needed. They should select the problem for research and start literature survey. Perspective seminar course is there during this term, where the students should present an abstract of their area of work.
Third term
Experimentation and collection of results will begin during this term. Students should write their Research paper or Technical report. Students having CGPA below 6.0 should write general test during this term.
Fourth term
Students should complete the research work during this term and start writing their thesis.
They should prepare for their future venture, colloquium, thesis defense etc. in this stage.
Eligibility Criteria
There will be an entrance test conducted by IISC called IISC Entrance test for the intake of eligible candidates to the M.Sc (Engineering) program. Candidates who qualify this entrance test will be called for the interview. Then the concerned authority will carry out further admission procedure for the admission of the eligible candidates to M.Sc (Engineering) program. Candidates with any of the qualifications specified below can apply for the IISC Entrance test.
Master’s degree or its equivalent in any branch of Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Applications or Pharmacy or Veterinary Science or Agriculture or Humanities.
Master’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering or Technology or Architecture.
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering or Technology or Medicine or Architecture or Biotechnology or Pharmacy or Veterinary Science or Agriculture
Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Chemistry or Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Electronics with qualifications obtained through examinations held by professional societies recognized by UPSC or AICTE. These qualifications should be equivalent for Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
For the admission to Management Courses, MBA or its equivalent is needed. It should be taken after completing B.E or B.Tech.
Applicants should possess minimum second class in the qualifying examination. SC/ST candidates need only pass marks for the same.
