Indian Air Force Permanent/SSC Officers in Operational Support Group 2011
Indian Air Force, the name says it all. The air wing of our defence is one of the most respected and powerful place one can be. Being a part of such a high respected place is like a dream come true. Getting a place is such a high level place is worthy of anything in return. However the Indian Air Force does it and asks nothing in return.
The Indian Air force welcomes all the interested candidates for the process of SSC, which stands for short Service commission. Along with that it also offers place for Permanent Officers in Operational Support Group. The main there branches that the selected candidates will be serving are flying, technical and Ground duty or operational support branch. There are other five subdivision of the operational support unit. The units in which it is sub divided are: Administrational, Logistics, Accounts, education and Meteorology.
Indian Air Force is a highly reputed defence organisation of the country and is one of the most aspired careers for adventurous candidates. Admission in Operational Support Group is open to both male/female candidates. Recruitment is done on the basis of vacancies which will be available with the admission notification.
Eligibility criteria:
Administration & Logistics: the candidates should be a graduate with atleast 60% marks or can be a Post Graduate with atleast 50% marks in Science /Commerce / Arts /Management / Engineering or LLB.
Meteorology: the candidates should be a PostGraduate in Science / Geography /MCA and should have secured atleast 50% marks. Should have passed Mathematics and Physics at Graduation level.
Accounts: The interested candidates should be a Graduate with at least 60% marks or be a Post Graduate with at least 50% marks in Commerce or IOWA l CA with B Com / M.Com.
Education: the interested candidates must be a Post Graduate in English /Defense Studies /Psychology / Mathematics /Physics /Statistics / Computer Science / Management or M Ed after PG or PhD with at least 50% marks.
The interested candidates should be below 20 years for all the categories. Also the age limit for Graduates is 23 years, for post graduates/Integrated BA LLB is 25 years and for M.Ed/PhD./LLB (after 3 years graduation) is 26 years as on 1st July, 2011.
The minimum height for male candidates should be 157.5cms and that for female candidates should be 152cms.
Important dates:
Release of notification: mid of September, 2010
Last date for receipt of applications: mid of October, 2010
Date of Entrance Test: end of November, 2010
Commencement of training: from the month of July, 2011
Application procedure:
Candidates can either send a handwritten/typed application form (on an A4 size paper) according to the format given in the admission notification or download the application form from the websitewww.careerairforce.nic.in. The candidates have to send the filled application form along with two passport sized photographs and two self addressed envelopes.
Selection Procedure:
Selection is IAF Ground Duty Branches is a multi stage procedure. Candidates are first required to appear in a Common Entrance Test (CET). CET has objective as well as descriptive questions. CET has two parts:
Part A(MCQ): English and General Awareness
Part B: Descriptive Test in English (comprehension passage, letter and paragraph writing).
Those who qualify in CET are called for Officer Like Qualities (OLQ) Tests which includes Psychological tests, intelligence tests, Group Tests and Interview. Final there is a medical test after which the merit list is prepared.
