Details of St. Xavier’s College BMS/BMM Entrance Test 2013
St. Xavier’s College organizes entrance examination to select candidates for Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) courses. It is essential to clear 12th class with a minimum of 60% from any of the recognized boards to apply for any of the courses. The entrance exam pattern includes a single paper covering both objective and subjective type of questions. On clearing written exam with at least 60% marks, a Personal Interview will be organized as a final selection procedure.
Eligibility Criteria for St. Xavier’s College BMS/BMM Entrance Test
Candidates need to complete 12th class from any of the recognized boards like Central or State Boards, CBSE and ISC to apply for this exam. Apart from this, those candidates holding a high school certificate examination from Cambridge University or an international diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva are also eligible. Candidates who have obtained a senior secondary school certificate issued by National Institute of Open Schooling with at least 5 subjects of study are also eligible for the same. It is compulsory for candidates to score at least 60% marks in 12th class level (55% for reserved categories) to attend this entrance exam. The higher age limit specified for candidates is 23 years. The reserved categories are allowed 2 years of age relaxation.
Pattern of St. Xavier’s College BMS/BMM Entrance Test
The entrance exam for each of the course will consist of a single paper which needs to be completed within 2 hours time duration. The single question paper for each course entrance test includes two types of questions – Objective type and Subjective type. Following are the main topic areas to be covered the written exam –
For Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) course
- Critical Analysis and Creative Thinking
- Data Interpretation
- English Language Skills
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
For Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) course
- Critical Reasoning and Creative Thinking
- Data Interpretation and Basic Mathematics
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- Verbal Ability
The selection will be based on merit where in specific weightage is given for each of the selection procedures which is mentioned below –
- Entrance Examination – 60%
- Personal Interview – 20%
- Marks obtained in 12th class – 20%
Candidates who qualify written exam by scoring the specific cut off percentage in the entrance exam will be given a chance to attend Personal Interview. The Personal interview will be conducted to determine the aptitude of candidates towards the particular course for which they have submitted the application. Depending on candidate’s performance in written test and personal interview, a weighted score will be given to each candidate and on that basis the final rank will be calculated which will be displayed in the official website.
