Civil Services Mains Medical Science (Paper I) Papers
The Union Public service Commission of India is one of the highest authoritative bodies in the country responsible for recruitment of the people in the highest key posts of the country. They recruit medicos into a variety of central Government organizations and services such as the Indian Railways, Indian Ordnance Factories Health Services, Central Health Services, Municipal Corporation of Delhi etc. The responsibility is huge and so the exam is quite tough.
Importance of the paper
The first part of the paper deals with mainly three subjects namely the general ability of the candidate, general medicine and pediatrics or the branch of medicine that specifically deals with the ailments afflicting the children and their cure. This is quite important since the children are the future of the nation and healthy children means a healthier tomorrow.
Format
The whole paper is of 250 marks an all the questions carry equal marks.
Paper pattern
The paper consists of120 questions. There is a negative marking for each incorrect response which is about one third. The candidates taking the exam are expected to choose from the four given options.
Marking
Since there is a provision of the negative marks thus the candidates are expected to be cautious and not make mistakes while marking the answers. If two options are chosen simultaneously then that will also be considered wrong and will be liable for a deduction of one third of the marks. However if he or she does not choose any option then there is no penalty for that question.
