Union Public Service Commission was set up the then British Indian Government on the demands of Indian Politicians. The first ever public service commission was set up in the year 1926. The commission is actually a constitutional body which conducts competitive examinations for the appointment to the varous civil services of India. This government organisation is authorized to make recruitment to the services and posts under Union and central Government. One of the major functionality of the commission is to advise the Government of India on all matters relating to the methods of recruitments.

Job Profile:

Union Public Service Commission is looking forward to hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (I), 2012 for making recruitment of eligible Indian Nationals in Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses. Only eligible Male and Female Indian Citizens are invited to apply for the courses.

Eligibility:

For Indian Military Academy and Naval Academy: Only eligible unmarried male candidates are invited to apply. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1989 and not later than 1 January 1994.

For Air Force Academy: Only eligible unmarried male candidates are invited to apply. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1990 and not later than 1 January 1994.

For Officers TRaining Academy- SSC course (Men/Women): Candidates should have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1988 and not later than 1 January 1994.

Physical Standards:

Candidates are required to be medically or physically fit. Candidates should have physical measures as per the physical standards set for the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2011.

Educational Qualification:

For Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy: Candidates should have done Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.

For Naval Academy: Candidates should have done B.Sc. degree with Physics & Mathematics as main subjects from a a recognized university. Candidates with Bachelor of Engineering are also eligible for the post.

For Air Force Academy: Candidates should have done Degree from a recognized university. Candidates should also have passed 10+2 level with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects.

Application Fee:

Candidates must pay the application fee of Rs. 100 by the means of Internet banking facilities or in cash at any branch of State Bank of India or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card. No fee is required to be paid by the SC/ST/Female candidates.

How to apply: Applications must be made online only by the eligible or interested candidates. The registration link for applying online is available at the official website of Union Public Service Commission. Candidates will be allowed to appear online on or before the last date for the reciept of online application.
