Yes, you are eligible to get direct admission in second year of B.Tech through lateral entry admissions after completion of your three years Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised board. To get lateral entry admission in B.Tech course, you have to appear in LEET/ ECET/ JELET examination conducted by your respective state entrance examinations board. By qualifying the entrance examination, based upon your examination rank, you will be allotted a seat in a particular college and you can get admission in second year of four years B.Tech course.

B.Tech stands for Bachelor of Technology. It is a four-year undergraduate degree course in the field of Technology. Candidates who have passed 12th standard with PCM stream or three years Diploma in Engineering from a Government recognised board are eligible to pursue B.Tech course.

Being a Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering, you are eligible to get lateral entry admission in B.Tech course. You have to appear in your respective state lateral entry examinations like ECET, LEET, etc.,. If you qualify the entrance examination, you will be called for counselling according to your examination rank and you will be allotted a seat in the college which you are eligible to get lateral entry admission for pursuing B.Tech course.

*Diploma candidates are eligible to apply for Lateral Entry Entrance Test. You can apply for this exam when notification is declared. You can apply for LEET 2017 as 2016 LEET exam is over. For this exam, minimum of 60% marks in diploma is required. With less than 60% marks, you can not apply for this exam.

*Joint Entrance Examination Main is also entrance exam for diploma candidates to get admission in Bachelor of Technology. If you want admission in National Institute of Technology then you an apply for this exam.

The admission procedure of diploma candidates to Bachelor of technology course is very simple. You can apply for below mentioned entrance examination and get admission directly in second year of Bachelor of technology.

1. Lateral Entry Entrance Test: It will help you get admission in state engineering colleges directly in second year.

2. Joint Entrance Examination Main: It will help you to get admission in National Institute of Technology and other government engineering colleges.

You must have 60% marks or more in diploma to apply for these exams. You can clear these exams to get admission in Bachelor of technology.
