Is a Biotech student eligible for IFS exam?
hi... i m shruti. i m doing b.sc (h) biotechnology. i m in 4th year. i just want to know that m i eligible for indian forest services exams which is commencing in july this year . please help me out and please send me detail of this exam . thanks.

the qualification for the IFS exam is Qualifications: A graduate’s degree with one of the disciplines namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a graduate’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering Age Limit: 21-30 years so in qualification bio tech is not mensioned so i think you are not eligible for IFS. |

Yes, bioteck students are also eligible for the exam of IFS.
the basic eligibility for this exam is bachelor degree in any subjects/stream. the candidate also the nationality of INDIA. |

I would like you to read the below details for further clarification. Details related to IFS(Indian Forest Service) exam 2011: UPSC IFS Age criteria : 1) The candidate should not be less than 21 yrs. of age & more than 30 yrs. as on 01.07.2011. 2) The upper age is relaxed for SC / ST / OBC categories. IFS Eligibility criteria / Educational Qualification : 1)The applicant must have Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with at least one of the subjects like Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering. 2)The degree must be from a recognized university. UPSC IFS Application fee : 1) General category & OBC candidates have to pay the fee of Rs. 100/-. 2) SC /ST / PH candidates are exempted from this. IFS number of attempts : 1) A candidate can only attempt for few times. 2) This is different for different categories. 3) For general category, one can give 4 attempts whereas OBC candidates can give 7 attempts & SC / ST candidates has no limit to the attempts. The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for the exam is a Bachelors degree with at least one of the following subjects. Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Botany Chemistry Geology Mathematics Physics Statistics Zoology Apart from this, candidates with a degree in Agriculture or Forestry or engineering, are also eligible for the exam. Indian forest service is about the preservation & management of forests & wild life of the country. The IFS exam is conducted by UPSC on a All India level. Many students are trying to establish their careers in IFS. It is one of the upcoming streams being opted by many people all over the world. Its quite interesting also. eligilety 1.Nationality : you must be either a citizen of India or Nepal or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to Indian before 1st Jan 1962 for permanent settlement. 2.Age : 21 to 30 years of age. There is relaxation of 5yrs for SC / ST / Ex-serviceman / ECOs / SSCOs. 3yrs. for OBC / Defence Services personnel disabled. Also 10 yrs. relaxation for blind, deaf-mute & orthopedically handicapped persons. 3.Minimum Educational Qualifications : you have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least one of the subjects as mentioned under optional subjects in IFS Exam pattern article. eligibility criteria for IFS: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Science with at least one of the following Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Statistics, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry or A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any stream) / Forestry/ Agriculture or an MBBS. your age limit should be between 21 years and 30 years. The exam will held in the 2nd week of July. The exam pattern will be like: General English which consists of essay writing, precise/summary writing and questions to assess your comprehension and verbal ability in English. General Knowledge which covers questions relating to the Indian political system, the Constitution of India, history of India, geography (India and world), general science and current events (national and international). the questions will be of higher secondary level and the optional subject will be of Honors degree level. to prepare for IFS, you can follow these books... |

yes of course you are eligible for this examination.
This will be clear to you if you see the eligibility conditions yourself. To appear for IFS exam,one should have completed graduation in any stream and age of his/her should be between 21 to 30 years for General category,for OBC category 21 to 33 year,no limit for SC/ST category.
As you have completed Biotech course,this also a graduation degree,so you can appear forthis exam,if you fulfill age requirement also. |

You must finish your degree for applying for IFS exam. The graduation is only not enough, it must be the degree in animal husbandry or veternary science or physics or geology or zoology or botany or agriculture and also BIO-TECH. You must be with the age limit of 21 to 30 yrs. SO YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR APPLYING FOR IFS EXAM. ALL THE BEST |

The Acronym "IFS" stands for Indian Forest Services. the Union Public Service Commission conducts the IFS Exam, every year for the recruitment of forest officers at the national level. The UPSC has set some eligibility criteria for this exam which interested candidates has to fulfill in any case if they want to appear for this exam. The Eligibility Criteria for the exam : * The minimum educational qualification required for this exam is graduation from any UGC recognized university. * The candidate must have completed graduation in any of the following subjects : Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology. * There is no specific percentage bar required in graduation for this exam. * Age Limit : a) For General Candidates : 21-30 yrs b) For OBC Candidates : 21-33 yrs c) For SC/ST candidates : 21-35 yrs * The candidate must hold Indian Citizenship. So , from the above mentioned , its clear that you are eligible for the exam if you fulfill the other required criteria too.
