so in qualification bio tech is not mensioned so i think you are not eligible for IFS.

Yes, bioteck students are also eligible for the exam of IFS.

I) Age limits :

Minimum:-21 years
Maximum:-30 years as on 1.7.2011

II) Educational Qualifications :

You need to have any Bachelor's Degree with at-lest any of the following subjects in your Degree level (Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology )
Or
a Bachelor's degree in Forestry or in Engineering or Agriculture or any Equivalent Exam.

You are Eligible because as You had Mathematics and Physics on very Ist semester of your Biotechnology course.Don't Worry You can Give this Exam.


III) No. of permissible attempts :

4 for General Candidates
7 for OBC Candidates
Any time for SC/ST Candidates

2) This is different for different categories.
3) For general category, one can give 4 attempts whereas OBC candidates can give 7 attempts & SC / ST candidates has no limit to the attempts.

Indian forest service is about the preservation & management of forests & wild life of the country. The IFS exam is conducted by UPSC on a All India level. Many students are trying to establish their careers in IFS.
It is one of the upcoming streams being opted by many people all over the world. Its quite interesting also.

1.Nationality : you must be either a citizen of India or Nepal or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to Indian before 1st Jan 1962 for permanent settlement.

2.Age : 21 to 30 years of age.
There is relaxation of 5yrs for SC / ST / Ex-serviceman / ECOs / SSCOs. 3yrs. for OBC / Defence Services personnel disabled.

Also 10 yrs. relaxation for blind, deaf-mute & orthopedically handicapped persons.

wishing you all the very best for your aim..any graduate can opt for IFS exam provided you can manage any of the optional papers mentioned below..

Age : The candidate must be between 21 to 30 years of age.
Minimum Educational Qualifications : The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least one of the subjects as mentioned under optional subjects in IFS Exam pattern.

Written Exam : It consists of 6 papers. The total marks will be 1400.

Paper I – It is based on General English. The question paper will be of 300 marks. The standard will be of a science or engineering graduate of an Indian university. There is no such prescribed syllabus for this. The applicant will have to write an essay in English & other questions will be for checking the understanding of English language & his/her knowledge of English words.
Paper – II – It is General Knowledge paper of 300 marks. The standard will be same as English paper. The candidate should have the knowledge of current affairs, history & geography of the country, political system & constitution. The candidate should be up-to-date.
Paper III to Paper VI – The candidate have to select any 2 optional subjects. There will be 2 papers on each optional subject. The papers will be of 200 marks each. The optional subjects are agriculture, animal husbandry & veterinary science, chemistry, civil engineering, geology, mechanical engineering, statistics, agricultural engineering, botany, chemical engineering, forestry, mathematics, physics & zoology. You have to select only 2 subjects.
Each paper will be divided into 2 parts, part A & part B. There will be 8 questions in each paper in which 4 questions in Part A & 4 questions in part B. Out of 8 questions, you just have to attempt 5 questions. There will be 1 compulsory question in each part. So at least you have to attempt 2 questions from each part.

General English which consists of essay writing, precise/summary writing and questions to assess your comprehension and verbal ability in English.

the questions will be of higher secondary level and the optional subject will be of Honors degree level.

the Union Public Service Commission conducts the IFS Exam, every year for the recruitment of forest officers at the national level.

The UPSC has set some eligibility criteria for this exam which interested candidates has to fulfill in any case if they want to appear for this exam.

The Eligibility Criteria for the exam :

* The minimum educational qualification required for this exam is graduation from any UGC recognized university.

* The candidate must have completed graduation in any of the following subjects :
