i am doing b.tech from computer science stream in 2nd year.
can i seat for ies exam or n?

IES Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications :

Degree in :
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics & Communications Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering

or equivalent degree from recognized universities.

• M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts.
• Students of final year Engineering or equivalent degree are also eligible.


This means you can write either after 4th year or after passout not in 2nd year......

so there is no percentage is required only pass out of final student are enough..

Age Limits :

Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years

The IES exam is conducted by UPSC exam.

Eligibility for IES exam-

Student must have passed engineering from-
1. Electrical Engineering
2.Electronics & Communications Engineering
3. Civil Engineering
4.Mechanical Engineering

M.Sc degree with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also eligible for IES exam.

B-tech 2 nd year student are not eligible for IES exam.

Computer science department are not eligible for IES exam but you can try through those departments.

Final year year student can also apply.

no dude you can't sit for this exam as you're from c.s branch.....this is the drawaback of being a computer technocrat...

Sorry to say that you are not eligible for IES entrance exam .
Because you haven't completed your graduation .
Eligibility crireria for IES are as follows:-
1.A candidate should have bachelor degree in engineering .
2.A candidate should have at least 55% in graduation .
3.Final year candidate can also apply for IES entrance exam.
4.Age limit for IES -21-30 years.
So my friend you are not full filling the eligibility criteria for IES.

To apply for IES Exam

Required Educational Qualifications is a completed

1. Electrical Engineering (EEE)
2. Electronics & Communications Engineering (ECE)
3. Civil Engineering (B.E civil)
4. Mechanical Engineering (B.E mech)
5. Computer Science Engineering (CSE)
or equivalent degree from recognized universities.

Students of final year Engineering are also eligible for applying IES exam.

So friend, you must wait at least two more years to apply for IES exam.

Yes you can apply for IES exam, but not in your 2nd year....you can start applying for IES while in your final year.
After completing your B.tech you can definitely apply for IES.

But you have to choose one of the following streams as your branch (not computer science) and the questions will also come on the basis of the chosen branch---

*Civil Engineering
*Electrical Engineering
*Mechanical Engineering
*Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Your age should be between 21 years and 30 years...


So choose your branch according to your interest and get the syllabus here.
