IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination , this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year . This year notification was already released and it is available in the official website .

Engineering Exam dates :-

• Date of announcement :- 10/03/12
• Last date for receipt of application :- 09/04/12
• Date of examination :- 15/06/12

This examination is conducted for recruitment of Civil Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Electrical Engineering , Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in differ post Indian Railway Service of Engineers , Central engineering Services , Indian Defence Services , Indian Ordance Factories Engineers ... etc.

To apply for this examination , the candidate should have a completed engineering degree from a recognized University and those who are appearing in the final year of degree may also eligible to apply for this examination . There is no minimum marks required for this examination .

Degree in :- Civil Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Electrical Engineering , Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent qualification OR M.Sc degree with Some Special Subjects apply .

Age limits for this examination is that candidate should have a minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as on 1st august of the year of examination and Upper age limits is applicable for reserved categories . Five years for SC/ST candidates , Three years for OBC candidates .

Indian Engineering Service (IES) exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission in every year.


The Engineering Services Examination is conducted by the UPSC, India every year for the recruitment to the four categories of engineering services:

Eligibility :

Examination pattern

Exam consists of two parts
PART 1
PART 1


PART 1 consists of two sections section 1 and section 2.


Section 1 consists of technical objective type questions and Section 2 consists of technical conventional type questions


PART 2 consists of personality test.

IES - INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE conducted by UPSC once every year for recruitment to the top technical post in the various dept. under Central Govt.

The candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree in Engineering or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and up to 3 years for OBC candidate.

The selection is through written exam based on the subjects from Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunications stream followed by personal interview.

So as a B.tech. degree holder of Manufacturing Engineering, you are eligible to apply for IES but you have to prepare your self for written exam from the above mentioned subjects.
