Re: How to become an IPS officer after passing 12th?
Well you can not apply for the Indian Police Service as for now. Your first priority should be college education. It is only after completing a graduation degree that you will be eligible for the Indian Police Service.
The procedure would be to first finish graduation in any stream. After that you can appear for the Civil Service Examination by the Union Public Service Commission to become IPS officer. The admission form to appear for the exams are generally released towards the end of the year. I will suggest that while you are in final year of graduation, start the preparation for the Indian Police Service. Start with something basic like English language skills and go further on. You should also decide upon the optional subjects you will choose for the exam. IPS Eligibility 1. You should be of Indian origin. 2. A bachelor degree in any stream is mandatory. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years. 5. There is upto 3 years relaxation for OBC. 6. SC and ST are eligible for upto 5 years relaxation. Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm (General/OBC/SC) candidates and 160 cm (ST) candidates. Female - 150 cm (SC/OBC/General) candidates and 145 cm (ST) candidates. Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm Vision 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye Selection Process 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |

As you are only 12th pass hence you will not be eligible for IPS examination.
You have to complete Graduation in any discipline to become eligible for IPS examination. So just take admission into a good college and start preparing for IPS exam from 1st year so that your preparation is good when you apply for IAS examination. The age limit for IPS examination is given below: General Category- 21 to 30 years OBC Category- 21 to 33 years SC/ST Category - 21 to 35 years The selection is based on the performance in the following stages of the exam: -CSAT -Mains Exam -Interview In mains exam you have to select an optional subject according to your choice . Those who are in merit will get there choice of service in the Civil Services. For IPS Officer you must have all the physical attributes then only you will be considered for that post.
