IPS stands for Indian Police service.IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

Minimum educational qualification required for IPS Exam is Bachelor degree .There is not require any kind of percentage marks in graduation degree .

12th standard candidate are not applicable for IPS exam but if you once complete your graduation degree then you are eligible for IPS exam.

Age criteria :-

Minimum Age = 21 years old
Maximum Age = 30 years old

Age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

No. of Attempts:-

For General: 3
For OBC: 7
For SC/ST: No Restriction

Selection for IPS Exam:-

PRELIMINARY EXAM(CSAT)
MAIN EXAM
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL TEST
INTERVIEW

PRELIMINARY EXAM:-

PAPER I: 200 Marks in 2 hr
PAPER II:200 marks in 2 hr

Both papers will consist of Objective Type questions only.

MAIN EXAMINATION :-

1)General Studies(two papers)-300 each
2)Optional 1(two papers)-300 each
3)Optional 2(two papers)-300 each
4)essay-200 marks(compulsory)
5)Indian language-300 marks
6)General English-300 marks

Not at all, you can't become an Indian Police Officer after passing only 12th standard.


To become an Indian Police Officer, firstly you will have to finish your bachelor degree.

To become IPS officer, Graduation is compulsory. Students after completing Graduation are eligible to become IPS Officers.
