You are not eligible to become an IPS Officer now. You need to complete graduation to meet the eligibility criteria. Selection to the job position of IPS officer is done through CSAT exam, mains exam and interview. Exam preparations can be started by joining graduation itself. General studies, verbal ability, GK, Indian History, etc are some of the topics covered for CSAT.

Exam Pattern :

All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) comprises of two successive stages:

Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination.

Main Examination: It consists of written examination and interview.

The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November

So after finishing your degree from a recognised university you can apply for IPS.

IPS is under Civil Service Exam conducted once in a Year by UPSC.To become an IPS Officer One Needs to crack Civil Service Exam.
To become IPS officer you need to complete your studies i.e. 12th,then complete Graduation from a recognized university.

You can be eligible for Indian Police Service but only if you completed graduation. Right now you are not eligible. You must have minimum qualification of graduation. Apart from that there will be some physical requirements that you should also be able to meet.

Indian Police Service officers are selected through Civil Services Examination. Right now your focus should be on completing 12th standard and it should be followed by graduation.

During final year of graduation or perhaps after completing graduation, you should start studying for the Civil Services Examination. There are few things that you can do right now. Like for example you can work on your English, if required.

Take English coaching to improve communication skills and polish up your grammar. You should also read newspapers and follow the global news, especially the big headlines like the Egypt Crisis at the moment. Other than that you should read political maganizes.

Candidates who already applied for IPS are here by informed that the IPS Exam limit is of 4 times i.e. applicant can appear for IPS up to 4 times only where as for SC/ ST category limit is of 7 times.
