Graduates in any subjects can apply for the profile of IAS officer. Age of the candidate must be less than 30 years. You need to qualify CSAT and mains exam to get selected. These exams are conducted by UPSC. Detailed information regarding IAS selection can be collected UPSC portal.

IAS - Indian Administrative Service, to become an IAS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.
The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University witin the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service and to become an IAS officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.
The eligible candidate must be an Indian National. The candidate should have either appeared for Graduation Degree exam or passed in any stream of education from a recognised University. The candidate should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The eligible candidate on application to Civil Service Exam, is called for a preliminary exam also called as CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test) and the candidate selected out of it is called for a Main Exam called as Civil Service Main Exam and the final selection is conducted through Personal Interview out of candidate selected from Main exam. To become an IAS officer, you have to appear in the UPSC Civil services exams.
This exam is held in three stages -Prelims, Mains and interview. Next prelims exams would be held on 19th May 2013 Eligibilty to apply for the UPSC Civil services exams are: Educational Qualifications:Graduation pass in any Stream Age Limits- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years Candidates belonging to OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations Chances to apply- General candidates- 4 times OBC- 7 times SC/ST- No such restriction |

IAS Exam i.e. Indian Administrative Exam.IAS exams are conducted by UPSC every year. To become IAS officer you need to complete complete Graduation from a recognized university.
Minimum qualification required to appear for IAS exams is Graduation from a recognized university. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Educational Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Number of Attempts: Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
