how to find percentile for gate result?

Percentile is a relative term , which describes where you stand in the exam.
For example if you get 68.3 percentile , then this means that you performed better than 68.3 % other candidates of your stream.


This percentile can be calculated as :-

Percentile = ((Total no. of candidates - Your rank) / Total no. of Candidates) *100

So for you this will be calculate as :-

Percentile = ((156780-17755)/156780 )*100

Percentile = (139025/156780)*100

Your percentile =88.67

This means you have performed better than 88.67% candidates who appeared for GATE 2012 in your stream.
