How To Get Into Indian Air Force

There are generally 2 ways of getting entry into the Indian Air Force at your stage :-

1) Combined Defence Services (CDS)

2) AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test)

Since you are an English graduate hence you are not eligible to appear for the AFCAT..

For appearing in AFCAT a candidate must have a B.E. or a B.Tech degree from a recognized University with 60% aggregate..

Combined Defence Services or the CDS Examination is held in February and September by the UPSC..

The minimum requirements for appearing in the CDS Examination :-

1) You must be an Indian citizen..

2) You must have a graduate degree from an AICTE recognized University..

3) There is no percentage requirement..

4) The age limit for appearing for the Air Force Academy is 19 years to 23 years..

5) For Indian Military Academy..age limit is 19-24 years

6) For Naval Academy 19-22 years..

7) Age limit for Officer's Training Academy is 19-25 years..

The written exam has 3 papers :-

> General Knowledge - 100 questions carrying 100 marks..

> English - 120 questions carrying 100 marks..

> Elementary Mathematics - 120 questions worth 100 marks..

You may also go to http://upsc.gov.in for additional details..
