i would like to become an officer in merchantnavy.how to join after my BE.

since,you are a engineer you can join merchant navy directly.

just the required thing is that,you have to undergo 10 months pre-sea training in marine engineering,whic is offered by MERI,kolkata or recruiting company itself.
the whole cost will be bare by recruiting company itself.

thats a brave decision to go to merchant navy
after BE u can directly apply for it without doing any kind of course.....
its just a month training and u r ready to board a ship........
u can apply for it to any of the reputed company which recruits freshers to ship........

you can apply for the post of electonic officer in merchant navy.there will be test for mercant navy engineers then you have to pass the physical also.

after completing your BE you can direcctly apply for merchant navy...best of luck its a good and encourageing field

The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics

after completing BE you have to do 6 months sea course and then go can directly go for any company you wish to go.

look vasanth you can directly apply fo rthe merchant navy as you are a technical graduate and they gladly accept them under their belt of trained proffesionals but you have to undergo a short training procedure before recruitment just bto be familiar with the schedule and procedures for that you have to apply in MERI at any of its branch.... good luck vasanth and wish you all the very best for your career....

So you can enter to the merchant navy directly.

You just need to give an interview for joining the merchant navy.

you can join merchant navy by the exam conducted as C.D.S(combined defense service).you can easily get into it as you are an engineer.

after B.E ,combined defense service ,or merchant navy conduct exam.if you are select then you can join merchant navy.

HOW TO JOIN MERCHANT NAVY


Courses : Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck). To become a seafarer, following streams of entries (Pre-Sea courses) are available to Indian citizens in the Government as well as in private training institutions (recognized and approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping):-

Officers
3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students.
4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students.
2 year course for Diploma Holders.
1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.
3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students.

Rating (Entry standard Xth)
4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose (GP) rating.
3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.
3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.
4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating.
In addition, a candidate can join as utility hand or Petty Officers (Fitters) after completing 4 Basic Courses, i.e. FPFF, EFA, PSSR and PST.


Govt training Institutes : There are four Government Training Institutes providing Pre-Sea and Post-Sea training of international standard :
Training Ship Chanakya, Navi Mumbai.
Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata.
Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai.
Lal Bahadur Shastri College of advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai.

you can get chance in merchant navy in two ways

1.through UES. which exam you can appear in the final year of your btech.

2.through UPSC exam. this exam you can appear after your graduation course.

hi sir i am a lecturer in engg college , i want to join merchant navy as deck cadets , also i have done my engg from instrumentation dept is it possilble to get into merchant navy without any long duration training, also i am a female , is it possible for female candidate to get into this stream

I have just completed my last semester examination of Electronics and Communication Engineering and till 7th semester scored 80% marks and expecting the same in last semester also. I would like to join in Navy, Army or any other Central Govt. organization like ISRO, Centre for Advanced Technology etc. How to apply these deptts and what are the chances for a female candidate.
