All these univ. take a separate entrance exam for lateral entry during their entrance exam for normal B. Tech entrance.

if your brother is in last year of his diploma then their is a LEET exam for the entery in second year B.tech. But every college has limited sets for it estimated 7-10.so you have to get good Rank for getting a good institute

there are lots of exam through which you can direct admitted in the 2nd year of b.tech.
almost all the engineering exam will have this facility.
such as:
1.wb jee
2.iit jee
3.aieee etc.
so prepare for the exam first then think about the admission.

No, you can't appear for the jelet exam. Its only for the diploma holders in various engineering trades. Better you complete your degree after that u can apply for jelet, but must have to score 60% in honors subject.

but for this you have to give the exam of the aieee, iit jee

and then you will selected.

there are some lateral entry test which is conduct by state joint entrace board,

like west bengal joint entrance board provides a exam JELET(joint entrance lateral entr test) for diploma student for doing BTECH.

After diploma you can directly get a lateral entry in pune atleast for engg.,
but for that you should have good percentage in your final year of diploma.

Lateral entry is possible once your brother completes his course. He can also apply to colleges when he is in his final year, provided he can present his diploma certificate at the time of admission. You haven’t mentioned what subject he is doing. It would be easier to give a list if we knew his course and the place you come from.
