Re: Possibility of getting admission in NIT, having 55.2% in 12th board exam?
NIT refers to National Institute of Technology and NITs are CFTIs ( Centrally Funded Institute of Technology ) which are known for providing quality education in technical degree courses.
For admission in NITs for pursuing B.E./B.Tech degree course in Civil Engineering you are required to qualify JEE ( Joint Entrance Examination ) Main which is the stage one of JEE held by CBSE once every year. Also, for admission in CFTIs you are required to secure at least 75% marks in your Class 12th with PCM group from a recognized board. Relaxation of 10% is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST and PWD category. Students failing to secure the mentioned marks but still getting into the top 20 percentile candidates of their board are also eligible for admission CFTI. So, having completed your Class 12th with 55.2% marks you are not eligible for admission in CBSE as the minimum marks required for a CBSE board candidate to come within the top 20 percentile candidates is higher than 75% ( usually in the range of 80-86% ). For more details regarding the admission procedure of NITs and JEE, you can refer to the link wwwjeemain.nic.in. |

Re: Possibility of getting admission in NIT, having 55.2% in 12th board exam?
The full form of NIT is National Institute of Technology.
Admission to NIT is done on basis of rank in Joint Entrance Examination Main. The eligibility criteria to apply for JEE Main course: You should have minimum of 75% marks in 12th board examination and top 20 percentile of respective board. For SC/ST candidates, the percentage of marks required is 65% but percentile criteria remains same. You can not apply for JEE Main exam after having 55% marks in 12th exam. |

Re: Possibility of getting admission in NIT, having 55.2% in 12th board exam?
No, you cannot get admission in NIT with your 12th class percentage.
NIT (National Institute of Technology) is one of the top institutions which offer graduation & post graduation level degrees in different subjects. The admissions into the institution is based on the entrance exam named JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) conducted once in every year. The basic eligibility required for getting admission into the institution and applying for the exam is a 10+2 in PCM with minimum 75% from any recognized board. There is 10% relaxation given for SC/ST candidates. Since you have scored 55.2% in 12th class you are not eligible for applying to the exam and you cannot get admission in NIT. |
