The only procedure to become an IPS officer is Civil Services Examination conducted
by UPSC every year. The notification for the exam is published in Employment News, National dailies and on its official website. The Eligibility Criteria AGE: 21-30 years(Relaxed 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates) Number of allowed Attempts: GEN-4; OBC- 7; SC/ST- No restriction, they can appear CS exams until they fulfill age criteria. Qualification: Graduation from any Government recognized university in any stream. The examination pattern >Civil Services Preliminary Exam The preliminary exam from this year is a common aptitude test which is same for candidates of all stream. >Civil Services Main Exam and Interview On the basis of performance in preliminary exam, candidates are called for Main Exam and on the basis of score of Main exam they are called for Interview. The sum marks of Main Exam and Interview is the basis of preparing final merit list. One is required to give his/her choice of service i.e IPS,IAF,IFS etc If you want to become an IPS officer make your choice IPS at first. The subjects/papers of of Main Exam: >1 Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks) >1 English Qualifying Paper (300 marks) >1 General Essay type paper (200 marks) >2 General Studies papers (300 marks each) >4 Optional subjects papers (300 marks each). For becoming IPS officer you can give Civil Services Exam. IPS is a government job which is conducted every year by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission ). You read the advertisement whose published by UPSC. Fill the application form with Rs 70/- IPO. Read all syllabus preliminary and final examination get preparing. If succeed you will become a IPS officer.

hello,well the procedure for applying ips officer is that you should appear for civil service exam which is conducted by upsc which is done once in a year....the minimum qualification for applying for this exam is you need to have a degree certificate and between the age of 21-30 years...so all the best..

To become an IPS officer, A Candidates is required to have a degree from an Indian Recognised University And if You are In final year of Your degree course, Then You can appear in the preliminary examination.
The IPS Exams are Conducted in Two Steps, First is the “preliminary exam” which takes place in May OR June and the second step is the main exam which takes place in October OR November every year. Yes,you can join for IPS exam as any Graduate from a recognised university or a college in India is the minimum eligibility criteria for IPS.
He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination. To become an IPS you need to appear in civil services exam conducted by UPSC. IPS eligibility requirement: Age limits - 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Educational Qualification - A bachelores degree in any discipline obtained from a recognized institute. Minimum Physical Standard - Height – 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm Chest – Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. The first phase of CSE exam is called CSAT(earlier it was called prelims exam). The examination structure of CSAT comprises of one paper consisting of questions from general studies and the other paper focusing on the aptitude skills of the students. |

Number of Attempts Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
