No there is no upper age limit to appear in GATE exam.
You need to have completed your B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch/Master degree holder. Pre final year or final year students can also apply. Alsp there is no restriction on number of attempts. You can select any one of the 21 papers .But it is expected from candidate to select paper in which he/she has knowledge. Re: Is there any age limit for GATE exam?
There is nothing about number of attempts or age limit. This is the best thing. Referring to the GATE 2011 application form, exam seekers born during 1940 to 1995 are eligible to appear for the exam.
