National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission for Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship in twice time in a year in the month of June and December .

Those candidate have completed masters degree from recognized university are eligible for NET exam .Marks required in Masters degree for OBC and General Category is 55% and for SC/ST Category is 50% .

For JRF ,The age should be below 28 years and for Lectureship there are no age limit.A relaxation up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/OBC .

From 2012 june NET exams papers are fully objective type with no negative marking .But there is sectional and overall cut off so please prepare all 3 papers equally .

For General candidates, the examination fee is Rs. 450/-; for Other Backward Classes fee is Rs. 225/- and for SC/ST/PWD candidates, it is Rs. 110/-. .

The acronym for UGC is University Grants Commission.

The acronym for NET is National Eligibility Test.

UGC conducts NET examination twice every year in the June and December months.

NET examination is conducted for the two posts:-

* Lectureship.

* Junior Research Fellowship(JRF).

The eligibility criteria required for the NET examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of post-graduation with 55% marks from any recognised university.

* 50% marks required in post-graduation for SC/ST contendors.

* Nationality:- Indian.

* Age limit:- 21-28 yrs for JRF; and no age limit is required for Lectureship.

* Age relaxation:- 5 yrs relaxation is granted for SC/ST, OBC, and PWD contendors.

There is No any Age limit Require for Lectureship Post of this exam.

The upper age limitation for Junior Research post is maximum 28 years.

Relaxation is provided for Reserved category student on upper age of OBC +3 years and for SC/ST +5 years....

UGC NET - University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC every year for selection of Lectureship and award to Junior Research Fellowship(JRF)

There is no upper age limit for those applying for Lectureship but those applying for JRF should be limited to 28 years of age.

Apart from this the eligible candidate must be an Indian national having completed Post Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognised University with 55% marks, can apply for NET.

Junior Research Fellowship:

Not more than 28 years as on 01.12.2012. A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/OBC (Non-creamy layer, as per the Central list of OBC available on website : www.ncbc.nic.in) categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.

Lectureship:

There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.
