NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission,

NET Conducted for Two Post:

1.Junior Research Fellowship
2.Lectureship

The Educational Qualification required for NET exam is masters degree from recognized university with above 55% marks . 5% marks relaxation is provide for SC/ST category.

Age criteria for NET Exam:-

i) Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years . Age relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PWD / OBC .

ii) Lectureship : There is no upper age limit .

Depends on category you belongs to. If are from OBC or SC for the post of JRF you can compete till 28. For general it should be in between to 26-28
