What is the eligibility criteria for UPSC exam? Is engineering beneficial to me
I am studying in SE Instrumentation & control Engg. I want to give UPSC exam, but I don't know the eligibility criteria.(1) What is eligibility criteria for this?
(2)Is Engineering beneficial to me in doing UPSC exam? |

As per your question, I will answer them one by one.... 1. I will attach the whole eligibility criteria in word format. Download that.. 2. Educational Qualifications : For I.M.A. and Officers Training Academy- Degree of a recognised University or equivalent. For Naval Academy : B.Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering. For Air Force Academy : Degree of Recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering. As mentioned above both Degree and engineering have same value. So you will not get any benifit for engineering..... |

The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities....SO YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND EXAM AFTER COMPLETION OF YOUR GRADUATION...
you can try for job in INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES.... Candidates who have appeared at an examination which would educationally qualify them for the UPSC examination but have not received the the results will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination. They will have to produce the proof of passing the requisite examination with their application for the Main Examination. Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications, recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination. AGE ELIGIBILITY A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination. |

i will be finishing law by next year.. i just planned to write UPSC. which area will be suitable for me? i dont have any intention of doing IAS OR IPS. pls refer me a good course.

You can apply for the : >> UPSC Civil Services Exams >> UPSC Engineering Services Exams Eligibilty to apply for the UPSC Civil Services Exams: Education: Graduation pass in any stream from a recognized university No minimum percentage of marks is required in Graduation Age- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years OBC can apply till 33 years SC/ST can apply till 35 years Attempts/Chances: UPSC has also fixed number of attempts General- 4 times OBC-7 times SC/ST-No Restrictions Educational Qualifications required to apply for IES exams is: >> BE/BTECH pass in any stream OR >> Passed section A and Section B of Instution examinations of Institution of Engineers Or >> Graduate Membership Examination of Institute of electronics and Telecommunication Engineers Age- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations |

As an Engineering Graduate you are eligible to apply for CDS/IES/Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC every year.
CDS - Combined Defence Service conducted twice every year to join Indian Defence Services - The eligible candidate must be an unmarried Indian National having completed Graduation Degree in any stream of education from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 25 years with good physical and mental Fitness, can apply for CDS. IES - Indian Engineering Service - The eligible candidate must ean Indian National having completed B.Tech. Degree form a recognised University in any stream within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. UPSC stands for the Union Public service commission.It is the examination conducting council of India that conducts different entrance exams at national level so as to recruit candidates to the different government departments. The eligibility criteria for different exams are different ,basically bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university is required with different age limits.
