Degree holders in any stream can apply for a job in Indian Army. For joining Indian Navy or Indian Air Force, B.Sc holders or engineering graduates can apply. Those interested to join navy academy must be in the age group of 19 to 22 years. In case of air force the upper age limit is 23 years. Detailed information on eligibility will be available in UPSC portal.

Qualification to apply for CDS Examination:
CDSE stands for Combined Defense Service Exams, you have to finish degree to write CDSE exams. This examination is conducted by UPSC, Twice in a year and this examination is conducted for the recruitment of these Academy i.e Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air force Academy and Officer's Training Academy. If you have completed your graduate degree course then you can apply for this examination. The age eligibility criteria are vary from Academy to Academy, So please check the given Age criteria and then apply for this examination. ## Indian Military Academy: 19-24 Years ## Air Force Academy: 19-23 Years ## Naval Academy: 19-22 Years ## Officer's Training Academy: 19-25 Years Educational Qualification: ## For IMA and OTA, you must have any degree from any recognized University. ## For Navy, you should have B.Sc in Physics or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering(BE). ## For AFA, you should have the degree from a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering(BE). You have to fill the CDS Application form online only, but the last date of apply for this year examination was already passed, so wait for the next year Notification and then apply for the same. But Before start filling up Online Application, you must have your photograph and signature duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 40 KB and must not be less then 3 KB in size. CDS Examination is conducted by UPSC every year and if you want to apply then you must satisfy following criteria:
-Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. -Please note if you are applying for Air force and Navy then you must have Graduation in Engineering or maths or physics. -Age required for CDS exam is different for different academies which are as follows: Air Force Academy- 19 to 23 years Naval Academy- 19 to 22 years Indian Military Academy- 19 to 24 years Officers training Academy - 19 to 25 years If you satisfy above criteria then you can apply for CDS exam via online application by visiting http://www.upsconline.nic.in Application fee can be paid through Net banking or bank challan. CDS exam conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) two times in a year. CDS exam is conducts for following wings:- Indian Military Academy :- Candidate should be complete Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised university. Age should be between 19 years to 24 years. Indian Naval Academy:- Candidate should be complete a Graduation degree with studied maths,phyaics,chemistry in b.tech or equivalent from a recignised University. Age should be between 19 years to 22 years. Indian Airforce:- Candidate should be complete a Graduation degree with PCM sujects in b.tech or equivalent from a recognised University. Age should be between 19 years to 23 years. Officer's Training Academy:- Candidate should be complete Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised university. Education: Indian Military Academy (IMA) - Graduation Pass in any Stream Officers Training Academy (OTA) - Graduation Pass in any Stream Indian Airforce- Graduation Pass with Physics and Mathematics as subjects in class 12th or BE/BTECH Indian Navy - BE/BTECH AGE LIMITS- IMA- Between 19- 24 years OTA Between 19- 25 years NAVY - Between 19- 22 years AIR FORCE - Between 19- 23 years Only MALE candidates can apply all the wings FEMALE candidates are allowed to apply for the OTA wing only CDS 2014 Exams dates: Exam date- 9th Feb 2014 Notification would come out on 2nd Nov 2013 |

The Acronym "CDS" stands for Combined Defense Services. There are two examinations conducted every year for the selection of candidates in the Indian Defense Academy. For the Combined Defence Entrance exam, you need to complete graduation. You need to finish your graduation for getting into IMA Dehradun. You can join the Technical Entry scheme and university entry scheme. You can also join Indian Military Academy or Officers Training Academy after completion of graduation. There are medical and physical standards to be met for joining the Indian Army. Candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the higher secondary examination and atleast, have 40% in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English. During the time of admission, he should be 17 1/2 years and must not be over 23 years of age. There will be a compulsory paper of Mathematics in the NDA Exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission.
