IN the UPSC Civil services exams there are three stages:
Prelims
Mains
interview

In the Prelims stage there are two papers of general studies which is common for all the candidates who are appearing in the exam.

In the Mains exams the candidates have to select any two papers fron the list of optional papers for the paper number 6 to 9

List of optional subjects for Main Examination
Agriculture
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
Anthropology
Botany
Chemistry
Civil Engineering
Commerce and Accountancy
Economics
Electrical Engineering
Geography
Geology
History
Law
Management
Mathematics

You can choose Civil engineering and Geography
