I have NCC C Certificate grade B and am a graduate with BCA degree. Am interested to join Indian Army as a permanent Commissioned officer. For CDS do I require to attend UPSC written exam? Also I request you to give info on date of notification and details of submission of application. Please clarify.

The notification for CDS II examination has released on 16th July, 2016 and if you are interested to apply for CDS II examination, you can apply for CDS examination through online at http://www.upsconline.nic.in/. The last date to apply for CDS II examination is 12th August, 2016 till 11:59 pm. Since, the notification has already released, you can apply for examination as soon as possible to avoid the application problems at the last moment.

CDS stands for Combined Defense Service and it is an academy meant for providing training and education to those who manages to qualify CDS entrance examination and looking to be a permanent commissioned officer in the Indian defense sector.

--> CDS entrance examination are held twice every year by UPSC in two stages which includes Written Examination and SSB interview respectively.

--> Also as you are interested to be a commissioned officer in Indian Army so you will have to join Indian Military Academy ( IMA ) wing of CDS and for joining the same wing of CDS you must have the qualifications given below :-

* You must have the nationality of India with your age lying within 19 years to 24 years.

* You must have completed your bachelor degree course in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year students are also eligible.

* You must have physical fitness as per the service requirement norm as mentioned in the notification.

--> Now as you are interested in knowing the date of notification of same examination, so for your information the applications for the CDS II 2016 is current going on which will last on 12th August 2016 and the examination is scheduled to be held on 23rd October 2016.
