My number is -1.5D. So tell me please

Yes, you are eligible for CDS exam.

Eye sight for Indian Army =

1. Uncorrected without glass – 6/12
2. Corrected with glass – 6/6
3. Limits of Myopia – 3.5
4. Limits of Hypermetropia – +2.5
5. Binocular vision III
6. Limits of Colour Perception I

Eye sight for Indian Navy =

1. Uncorrected without glass: 6/6
2. Corrected with glass: 6/6
3. Limits of Myopia: -0.75
4. Limits of Hypermetropia: +1.5
5. Limits of Colour Perception: I
6. Binocular Vision: III

Eye sight for Indian Air force =

1. Minimum distant vision 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other
2. Correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia
3. Colour vision CP-I
4. Hypermetropia = + 2.0 D Sph
5. Manifest Myopia = Nil

Height criteria for CDS exam:-

Physical Standards required to apply for CDS (Combined Defense Services ) Examination :

1.For Male candidates , minimum height should be ------ 157.5 cms

Indian Air Force ----- 162.5 cms

Indian Navy ----- 157 cms

2.For Female Candidates ,minimum height would be ----- 152 cms


Eye Standards for CDS :


--> Should have 6/6 distant Vision for the Male candidates with

a. Myopia > 3.5 D

b. Hypermetropia < 3.5D

--> For Female candidates it would be about 6/6 for Corrected Eye and 6/8 for Worse Eye.

More you should have to submit the Medical Certificate at the time of Interview for further proceedings. Hope this information will be useful to you.

CDS exam:-

So , if you satisfies the eye sight criteria which i mentioned above , then you can apply for the CDS exam . Along with Eye sight , you need to also satisfy the other points of the cds exam eligiblity criteria.

Those are ,

~ you shouldhave completed graduation in any descipline from a recognised university
~ age shouldbe in between 19-22 years , to join in navy
~ age shouldbe in between 19-23 years , to join in airforce
~ age shouldbe in between 19-24 years , to join in army
~ you shouldbe a citizen of india
~ you shoulbe an unmarried candidate


Selection process is ,

1) written exa
2) ssb interview
3) medical test


The exam will be held twice in every year by UPSC

I mentioned below eye standards of CDS examination. If you satisfy the below standards then definitely you are eligible to apply for CDS examination. Otherwise, you are ineligible to apply for CDS Examination.

CDS Exam Eye Standards:

• Uncorrected without glass: 6/12
• corrected with glass: 6/6
• Limits of Myopia: -3.75
• Limits of Hypermetropia: +2.5
• Limits of colour Preception: I
• Binocular Vision: III
