Eligibility criteria to appear in NET and CAT?
Dear sir,
I have done my 2 years (one sitting) graduation from UGC accredited UNIVERSITY OF NORTH BENGAL (WEST BENGAL) with History, Pol. Sc and Philosophy. Then i did my Masters in History (2 Years) from HIMACHAL PRADESH UNIVERSITY. Tell me about the eligibility criteria for CAT and NET? SUDIPTA GHOSH (EX-SERVICEMAN) |

Eligibility criteria required to appear in NET and CAT examination is mentioned below :-
CAT :- CAT stands for Common Admission Test. It is a MBA entrance examination which is conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) for selecting students for their business administration programs. Candidates who have obtained Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks from a recognised university are eligible to appear in CAT examination. NET :- NET stands for National Eligibility Test. NET examination is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a UGC recognised University in Humanities(including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science &Applications, Electronic Science, etc., are eligible to appear in NET examination. Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited are also eligible to apply for NET examination. |

Eligibility for National Eligibility Test:
1. Master's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year candidates can also apply for the exam. The minimum percentage of marks required for NET exam is 55% or more. 2. The upper age limit for the Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years and there is no upper age limit for lectureship. UGC conducts this exam twice every year in the month of June and December. For Common Admission test, a candidate must have done bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks in graduation. Final year candidates can also apply for the CAT exam. The Indian Institute of Management conducts this exam for MBA program. |

Yes, you are eligible to appear for the NET as well as the CAT entrance examination. NET stands for the National Eligibility Test and it is the entrance examination conducted by the UGC twice every year.
The required eligibility to appear for the examination is candidates must have passed the master's degree with at least 55% aggregate. The examination is conducted in the month of June and December and the examination is conducted for the recruitment of the candidates as Lectrurer and JRF. for more information about the examination visit at the www.ugc.ac.in. |

The eligibility criteria for the National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission is that candidate must have master's degree with at least 55% marks or more in master's degree, for SC/ST candidates there is 5% relaxation in marks.
Upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship under NET is 28 years. CAT stands for the Common Admission Test and the minimum qualification for this exam is bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks. |
