To be eligible to appear in IAS examination, you must have completed your Graduation degree from a recognised university. To become an IAS officer, you need to appear in IAS examination which is conducted by UPSC every year and the eligibility criteria required to appear in IAS examination is mentioned below :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. You must have completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university.

3. You must be within 21-30 years of age. Upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates as per government rules.

4. You must be physically and mentally fit.

Since, you have completed your 12th standard with an aggregate of 50% marks, after completion of your Graduation course from a recognised university, you can appear in IAS examination.

There is no particular specification as to which field you should choose to opt for IAS in future.

It basically doesn't matter as to whichever degree or course you choose as the requirement for IAS is only graduation in any discipline. Streams don't play a major role in it.

You can choose any field you want, whether B.Sc, B.A. B.B.A., B.Com, B.Tech, etc it doesn't matter.

However, it is advised to you that select that course in which you will be able to give more time and effort.

12th standard is not enough educational qualification to apply for the IAS entrance exam. You need to complete graduation or equivalent qualification to be eligible for the IAS entrance exam. Here, I am providing the eligibility criteria for IAS exam.

The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and this entrance exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). In order to become an IAS officer, you must appear and qualify in Civil Service exam.

IAS Eligibility Criteria:

- Citizenship of India.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from any government recognized university.
- Result awaited students can also apply.
- The applicant must be between the age of 21 years and 30 years.
- Applicants belonging to SC / ST category have upper age limit maximum of 5 years. OBC candidates have maximum of three years as upper age limit

Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem it is.

1.Yes, you can become an IAS with 50% marks in 12th standard.

2.But for becoming IAS you must have to complete your graduation first.

3.So complete your graduation course with more than 60% in any of the field.

4.You must be citizen of India.

5.And your age must be above 21 years then you can appear for IAS exam.

Hope this information is helpful to you................

Have a nice day..............

The notification released by the UPSC does not mention any any minimum percentage criteria, they jst want the candidate to be graduated from a recognized university.
Yes there is an age criteria which says the candidate should be between 21 to 32 years at the time of application for a general candidate.

It doesnt matter whether you have secured 50% or 80% in 12th to appear for the IAS exam . The main point what everybody should remember is that , the candidates who have passed Graduation are only eligible to apply for the Indian Administrative Exam . So , you should go for Graduation and complete it from a Recognised university to apply for the IAS exam .

Note that , your Graduation Percentage is also not needed for the IAS exam .
As per the Eligilbity criteria of the IAS exam , the candidate shouldhave passed Graduation from a Recognised University .

Minimum age shouldbe 21 years. Maximum age for Open category candidates is 30 years.

Age relaxation for OBC is 3 years and SC,ST candidates is 5 years.

Maximum of 4 attempts for Open category candidates are allowed
Maximum of 7 attempts are allowed for the OBC Category candidates
There is no Limit in Number of attempts for the SC , ST Candidates.
