My name is anil. I am a mechanical engineer. I am interested in mechanical field but in this mechanical field salaries are low. So I want apply for software job. It is good decision or not please help and which field is best s/w or Mech? Awaiting for the response.

Yes, you are eligible for software companies but you fulfill below given criteria.

Required percentage of marks throughout the studies for software companies is 60%. Candidates having pending backlog are not eligible for software companies recruitment. Candidates having more than two years gap throughout the studies are not eligible for software companies recruitment.

You can apply below given companies,

1.Wipro

2.Syntel

3.Alumnus software

4.TCS

But you should have knowledge in programming language.

Most of the software companies generally does not recruit Mechanical background candidates in huge number. So I suggest you to find employment in Core field only. There will be huge competition for you when you look for job in Software field as other stream candidates also compete for the same posts and same vacancies. Whereas there will be less competition for Mechanical background candidates. So I suggest you to find employment in Core Mechanical Engineering field only even though their salaries are low compared to software based jobs.

Yes, you can apply for software job after completion of mechanical engineering. The software companies select students from various departments like mechanical, electrical, ECE etc, so you can also apply for a software job. The salary in the software field is very high compared to other industries. You should have good attitude and communication skills to get a job through campus placement or off campus placement. The knowledge of programming languages like C++, C#, Java,Net etc will be preferable. You should have scored at least 60% marks in graduation to get a software job.
