Bihar Public Service Commission was established on April 1, 1949 as a result of its seperation from the Commission for the States of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. Its seperation from the commission for the states of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh resulted in accordance with Government of India Act, 1935. The commission became a constitutional body under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. Initially, the commission had its headquarter located at Ranchi but later its was shifted to Patna in the year 1951. Shri R. J. M. Pillai is the current chairman of the commission.

Job Profile:

Eligible and qualified candidates are required to apply in the prescribed format for filling up the post of General Physician under Health Department, Bihar. Bihar Public Service Commission will be conducting a written examination followed by a personal interview test for making recruitment on the specified position.

Eligibility:

Interested candidates should have age more than 37 years as on 1 October 2011. 37 years is the maximum age limit set for the post of General Physician in Bihar Public Service Commission. Candidates having age more than the prescribed maximum age limit, should not apply for the specified post or else his/her application will not be accepted by the commission. Reserved category candidates will get relaxation of few years in the prescribed upper age limit.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should possess the minimum educational qualification set for applying for the post of General Physician in Bihar Public Service Commission. The minimum educational qualification set for the post is MBBS degree from any recognized institute or university with atleast 60% marks in aggregate. Candidates having qualification less than the prescribed minimum educational qualification, should not apply for the post at all, as their applications will be discarded by the commission straightaway.

Pay Scale: Selected candidates will get the prescribed amount of salary i.e. Rs. 9300-34800 with a Garde Pay of Rs. 5400.

Application Fee:

Rs. 350 is the amount of application fee that is need to be submitted by the candidates belonging to General and OBC categories candidates. SC/ST candidates of Bihar are required to submit an application fee of Rs. 125 only. The application fee of prescribed amount is need to be submitted in any branch of State Bank of India. The payment of the application fee is need to be submitted through the means of payment challan available at the BPSC website.

Selection Process:

Selection Process for the above specified post includes two stages i) a competitive written examination and ii) a personal interview test.
