Union Public Service Commission was formed on October 1, 1926 as a Government Organisation. The commission is located at Dholpur House, Shah Jahan Road, New delhi. The commission is responsible for conducting competitive examinations for making appointment to the various Civil Services of India. The first public service commission was set up by the then British Indian Government. The demand for the public service commission was raised by Indian Politicians. Initialy, the commission was aimed to function as a advisory body but later it was set up as a federal Public Service Commission.

Job Profile:

Union Public Service Commission will be conducting a Geologist Examination 2011 commencing from 3rd December 2011 for making recruitment on the post of Geologist in various departments of Government of India.Only eligible Indian Citizens are need to apply for the specified position in Union Public Service Commission.

Posts available in the field of Geological Survey of India.

1. Recruitment of Geologist Group A:
No. of posts: 300 posts are available.
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 to 32 years as on 1 January 2011.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university. Candidates with Master’s degree in Mineral Exploration are also eligible to apply.

2. Recruitment of Junior Hydrologists (Scientist B) Group A:
No. of posts: 7 posts are available.
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 to 32 years as on 1 January 2011.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university. Candidates with Master’s degree in Mineral Exploration are also eligible to apply.

3. Recruitment of Assistant Hydrologists Group B:
No. of posts: 30 posts are available.
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 to 32 years as on 1 January 2011.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university. Candidates with Master’s degree in Mineral Exploration are also eligible to apply.

Physical Standards:

Candidates are required to be medically fit as per the physical standards for Indian Geologists Examination 2009. Candidates found medically unfit, will be discarded straightaway by the commission or will not be allowed to appear in the further stages of the selection process.

Application Fee:

Rs. 100 is need to be submitted through the means of Central recruitment Fee Stamp only. However, SC/ST candidates are exempted from the payment of this application fee. ONLY general and OBC candidates are required to submit this application fee.

Candidates can also send offline application by filling up the common application form and send it alongwith other required enclosures to the following address.
