Hoshiarpur District is located in the state of Punjab and the district comprises of four sub-divisions, eight municipal councils, ten development blocks and the administrative divisions in the district are Garhshankar, Mukerin, Dasuya and Hoshiarpur. The district is spread over an area of 3364 square kilometers and it falls under the north-eastern part of the state of Punjab.

One among the four municipal councils of the district, which is Hoshiarpur is popularly called as the city of mangoes. When it comes to higher education scenario in the district of Hoshirpur, there are a few government colleges and the names of these colleges are given below:

Government College, Hoshiarpur came into existence in the year 1927 as an intermediate college and the college offers the following courses with affiliation from Punjab University located in Chandigarh:

Government ITI is meant for offering technical education to the women students and it offers craftsman training scheme in the following trades:

Cutting & Sewing

Embroidery and needle work

Art & craft teacher training
