South Tripura is an administrative District in the Indian state of Tripura and it is located in the northeastern part of the nation. The district came into existence in the year 1970 on the 1st of September 1970, when the state of Tripura was bifurcated into three districts. The district is spread over an area of 2152 km2 and the headquarters of the district is the city of Udaipur. The district is located at a distance of about 48 kms from the state capital Agartala. The capital city of the district, Udaipur is popular for the historic Matabari Temple.

Sub-divisions in the district of South Tripura:

The district of South Tripura has five sub-divisions namely Santirbazar, Sabroom, Belongia, Amarpur and Udaipur, the popular pilgrimage centre of Tirthmukh is located in the Amarput sub-division of South Tripura District.

Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College:

Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College was previously called as Belonia College and it is one of the oldest among the 15 government colleges functioning from the state of Tripura. The college has been in the fore-front among the colleges in the state in advancement of education and other curricular activities. The college came into existence in the year 1964 on the 22nd of May with affiliation from the University of Calcutta. The college offers UG course in the faculties of humanities, science and commerce and the list of courses offered by the college is given below:

Netaji Subash Mahavidyalaya:

Netaji Subash Mahavidyalaya came into existence in the year 1964 as an institution under private ownership. Later in the year 1977, the Tripura Government came to a decision to allocate a plot of land to start a government degree college. As a result of this Udaipur Government Degree College came into existence in the year 1979 on the 21st of September and on the 23rd of January 1997, this government college was renamed as Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya. The college is affiliated to Tripura University and it offers the following courses:
