How to Prepare for Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)?

Anna University is one of the most systematic and pragmatic Universities in the Country. They conduct entrance exam for the admission process into its affiliated colleges called as Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Exam (TANCET). They carry out the entrance exam mainly for the courses in various professional, arts and science programs.

Structure of TANCET

TANCET is an objective type exam with five options. It carries 100 question and the students are asked to answer it within 120 minutes. There is a negative marking, ie, for each wrong answer 25% of the obtained mark will be reduced.

Consider the TANCET MCA exam, which is divided into four sections,

  • Logical reasoning
  • Analytical reasoning
  • Computer awareness
  • Quantitative ability

Syllabus for TANCET

The syllabus varies according to the entrance exam. The question normally covers the area of general English, quantitative, reasoning etc. The language part deals with the reading, comprehension and grammar part. The candidates also need to know about the current happening and issues so as to attend the general awareness part.

The quantitative ability deals the trigonometric, arithmetic and data interpretation and sufficiency part. The Reasoning part consists of various questions of logical and analytical reasoning. The candidate has to spend time in practicing questions on verbal ability, data sufficiency etc.

There are lot of study material available in Net and in the market. The CAT and MAT preparation books also help for the various exam of TANCET. They can also other books in the respective domain. Some of the books for reference are

Study Plan for TANCET

The student can start their preparation as early as possible. After understanding the conceptual part they can go for taking mock exams and preparing with the previous year questions. Taking other competitive exam or similar entrance tests also help in the final exam. They can go for short cut formulas and methods for solving the problems in quant’s and other respective domains. Repeated revision will also help in preparing the exam.
