How to Prepare for the Combined Engineering Service Test?
Union Public Service Commission of India conducts the Combined Engineering Service test for the staffing of engineers. There are four kinds of engineering services such as Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Civil Engineering. The selected aspirants are employed to different posts in the government organizations.
A Bachelor Degree from the reputed University or Institute is mandatory for those who are applying. The aspirants who are pursuing last year of graduation are also eligible to apply for the examination. The announcement of the test is available in December or January. Structure of the CES exam
There are both written examination and personal interview for the selection process. The written test carries 1000 marks with two parts.
Syllabus of the CES exam
The first part includes objective type questions. There are four options available in this section. The candidates have to select the appropriate answer from the choices. Significant engineering discipline based questions such as General studies and English are included. The second part contains the questions on the disciplines that the aspirants studied. The curriculum is depends upon a particular subject based on the graduation level studies. After successfully completing the written examination, the selected candidates have to attend the personal exam and interview, which is the last selection process. The maximum marks of the examination are 200. Once these rounds are passes, the candidates will get the call letter.

For the general English section Wren & Martin will be ideal. For the General Studies section books like Manorama Year Book, NCERT guide etc will be useful.

The aspirants have to learn the engineering disciplines thoroughly. Then the candidates will get questions of objective and descriptive kinds. The aspirants have to organize timetable and assign time for each section.
