Indian Navy Dockyard Apprentices Exam 2012
Unlike most other exams, the Indian Navy Dockyard Apprentices Examination is taken twice a year. The exams serve the purpose of employing individuals to the Indian Navy, a branch of the Indian Armed Forces as Dockyard Apprentices in the trades which follow:
- Crane Operator
- Electrician
- Fitter
- Mechanic Diesel
- Rigger
- Shipwright and Maintenance Mechanic
- Rigger
- Ref and Air condition Mechanic
- Turner
- Welder
- Non-Designated: Engine Fitter, Electronic Fitter, GT Fitter, Machinery Control Fitter, Radar Fitter, Ship Fitter, Sonar Fitter
Those candidates who are selected according to the choice-cum- merit scheme will be given appropriate training in their respective fields before they take on the job, initially in the Mumbai based Naval Dockyard School and later in a few other naval establishments across the country. Being a part of the fifth largest Navy of the World is a glorious achievement providing great reputation. Applicants for the exam are of great scale but only a few will make it to a lifetime full of exciting opportunities and credits.
Structure of Indian Navy DAE
The DAE is taken usually in the months of July and December. The DAE is categorized as an objective test. It will have 2 papers:
- Paper I – Mathematics
- Paper II – General Knowledge.
Aspirants are to attend both papers and qualify in them to be eligible for recruitment. Each paper is 150 minutes long and each is for 100 marks.
Qualifying candidates will be shortlisted for an interview depending on their scores in the written test, in cities like Banglore, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi.
Syllabus for Indian Navy DAE
Paper I (Mathematics) will comprise of questions from the topics - number system, fundamental operations, square root, time and distance, integers, rational and irrational numbers, Decimal fractions, profit and loss, ratio and proportions, Problems and equations on Algebra, Areas and volumes, factors, percentages, Averages, Time and Work, Simple and compound interest (Unitary Method) etc.
Paper II (General Knowledge) – Questions will be from current affairs, books and authors, world sports, awards and prizes, Abbreviations, Facts about India and the World etc.
Eligibility Criteria
The following eligibility conditions should be satisfied by the aspirants to apply for and attend the DAE.
Educational Qualification – Candidates should be qualified in Matriculation or other equivalent examination with Science (which is much preferred).
Age – Candidates under 19 and not less than 14 years of age are eligible. SC/ST candidates have a relaxation of age for upto 5 years.
Nationality – Candidates must satisfy any of the following conditions:
Must be a citizen of India
A subject of Bhutan
A subject of Nepal
A refugee from Tibet intending to settle permanently in India
Individual of Indian Origins migrated from countries like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries like Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Vietnam, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, Kenya, and Ethiopia with the intention of settling permanently in India.
A certificate of eligibility will be issued by the Government of India, for candidates of the all categories mentioned above except the first and should be shown while applying.
Marital Status – Unmarried male citizens are eligible.
Physical Standard –
- Minimum height – 150 cms.
- Chest – Well developed chest with a range of expansion of 5cm at least.
- Weight – Weight should not exceed 50 kgs.
Health in general – Candidates should not have any contagious diseases, cardiovascular, medical, surgical deformities or infection.
How to Apply?
Notifications for admissions are released twice a year in the Employment News and all leading News papers (National/Regional). Candidates can write or type the application in an A4 size paper as per the format in the notification.
An easy alternative is to download the form from www.nausena-bharti.nic.in.
After submission of the forms, candidates will be called and invited to a screening where their documents, physical measurements and medical examination will be checked and the physical, mental and medical fitness are measured. The candidates who will be selected in this procedure can attend the written test. The address to where the forms should be sent to will be there in the notifications.
How to fill the Form?
Filling the form is of utmost importance as an application form shouldn’t have any errors. The candidates are advised to check each entry for errors and refer instructions if there are any doubts. Moreover, the forms should be neat if it’s handwritten and all entries should be valid and accurate. The forms should reach the authority before the announced last date. Applications after completion must reach the nearest Head Quarters Rtg Zone.

Study Plan
Mathematics requires a lot of reference and time for practice. Solving problems with ease require skills. In order to develop such skills, a lot of practice is in order. The exam would be tough and competitive and only few would make it through. So the candidates are to work hard and keep improving till the exams. Above all, the candidates should be relaxed and calm before entering the exam hall. The candidates should also find time to improve their physical fitness as well. So finding time for studies and exercises can be a tad too difficult. Therefore, the candidates have to come up with a good strategy which can get them enough time for everything necessary for the examination.

I have given a interview and medical test on 18th Feb 2013 for Apprentices Dockyard apprentice school mumbai but did not recieve any calling letter?

im naga durga i have pass ssc,intermeidiate and iti(copa). so i applied apprentice.but im disqualified. because you rejected for age relaxation.i born on 08-10-1988.
i agreed it. but a little requast to you. that is we want to complete any trade in iti just pass SSC. BUT COPA TRADE REQUIRES INTER. so any iti student have 4 years time for apprentice qualify. but PAASA students have 2 years only. so i equest to you plase qualify me.
