Junior Constable - West Bengal Police
The West Bengal Police was established by the Government of West Bengal and its main aim is to apply the law firmly and fairly with a view to prevent and detect crime. The WB Police strives to keep the state peaceful and to protect people through active co-operation of community.
Recruitment by West Bengal Police:
West Bengal Police has called for applications from Permanent residents of the left wing extremists affected areas of the districts of Purulia, Bankura and Paschim Medinipur for the position of Junior Constable and here are the details regarding the notification issued by the police in this regard:
Name of the Vacancy: Junior Constable
Number of Vacancies: 5000
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC and other category candidates will be made according to the orders issued by the Government of West Bengal from time to time.
Pay Brand: Candidates appointed for the position of Junior Constable will come under Pay Band 2 with a scale of Rs.5400-25200 with Grade Pay of Rs.2300.
Eligibility requirements:
Educational qualification: The minimum educational qualification requirement is class VIII and candidates must fulfill the following physical measurement requirements:
Physical measurement requirement:
• Male candidates of General/SC/OBC Category – Minimum Standard Height of 167cm and standard chest expansion range of 76-81 cms
• Female candidates of General/SC/OBC Category – Minimum Standard Height of 160cm
• Male candidates of ST Category – Minimum Standard Height of 160cm and standard chest expansion range of 74-79 cms
• Female candidates of ST Category – Minimum Standard Height of 152cm
Age: Candidates must be between the age group of 18 and 27 years as on 1st of January 2011 and upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC Candidates.
Process of recruitment:
Recruitment process constitutes, physical efficiency test, written test and interview. In the physical efficiency test will be conducted for 15 marks, male candidates should cover a distance of 800 meters in three minutes maximum and women candidates should cover a distance of 400 meters in two minutes maximum. Written test will be conducted for 25 marks, which includes 15 marks from Vernacular and 10 marks for simple mathematics of Class VIII standard. Interview will be for 10 marks, where general awareness of the candidates will be tested.
How to apply:
The superintendent of the police of the concerned district will arrange for distribution of application forms through local police stations under the direct supervision of the officer and candidates can get the application forms on production of community certificates bearing domicile address/voter identity card or ration card as a proof towards domicile. Application must be submitted before the 18th of November from the concerned police station from where it was obtained.
