Kurukshetra University Ph.D in Geophysics Entrance Test 2012
Kurukshetra University organizes Ph.D in Geophysics Entrance Test every year with an objective of screening candidates for admission into Doctor of Philosophy in Geophysics course offered at the University. This University also offers various other courses and organizes separate entrance exams for admission into these courses.
Structure of Kurukshetra University Ph.D in Geophysics Entrance Test
This Entrance Test comprises of two papers. Paper 1 consists of 50 objective type questions. The time allotted for this section will be 100 minutes and the total score one could obtain for this paper will be 100.Paper 2 will comprise of subjective type questions. This section consists of 20 questions. There will be five questions from each of the topics which are given in the syllabus. Each of these questions will carry five marks and the total time allotted for this section will be 2 hours.

Eligibility Criteria
Students with a Master’s degree in Geophysics with a minimum aggregate of 55% from any recognized Universities are eligible to attend this Entrance Test. A relaxation of 5% will be given to the handicapped students and also for those who belong to the backward categories such as SC/ST.
How to Apply?
Application forms for this Entrance Test will be available on the official website of the University. Candidates can collect the application forms by logging into the official website of the University. An application fees of Rs.40/- has to be paid by the general category students. The blind students of Haryana and those students who belong to the backward categories will have to pay only Rs.10/-. The completely filled application forms must be sent to “The Director/Chairperson, Institute/Department of Geophysics, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra-136119”.
How to fill the Form?
The students should correctly enter their name, father’s name and also guardian’s name in the specified places. The date of birth as well as the category name should be entered correctly as it can be used as password for future reference. Photographs of the students must be correctly affixed in the mentioned places. Signature of the students should be put in the respective places. The application form should be send such that it reaches the correct destination on or before the last date mentioned in the exam brochure.

Study Plan
The students should set up a good plan at least 3 to 4 months prior to the exam. The plan should be such that it covers all the areas included in the test. The entire portions should be divided into several units and separate time should be allotted for each unit. Maximum time should be allotted to tough portions. Standard text books should be referred to get relevant data. Previous question papers will be available in the bookshops. One should buy these question papers and must refer them so as to get good idea regarding the pattern of the questions and also the repeated as well as important questions.
