Punjab CET Law 2012 LLB/BA LLB
This is the most common entrance examination which is conducted for admission in to under graduate level courses in Law. In India there are various other courses which is graduate level such as BA – LLB, BA-LLB (Hons) etc. A large number of students within the state of Punjab and out of the state can or will apply for the test. The exam is conducted in various centers across the country according to their convenience.
Structure of CET Law
The duration of the exam would be about 3 hours. The exam will consist of Objective type questions with multiple choices. Applicants will have the opportunity to choose the correct answer from the options that are provided to them. The number of questions would be around 300.
The exam pattern would include –
Mental ability – 50 questions for 200 marks
General English – 50 questions for 200 marks
General Knowledge – 100 questions for 400 marks
Aptitude for Law – 100 questions with 400 marks
There will be negative marking for this exam. There will be deduction of 1 mark each for wrong answers. The merit of a candidate will be decided on the basis of the results in the examination.
Syllabus of CET Law
CET LAW/LLB/LLM Entrance Exam has no particular set of syllabus. Questions for exam to admission to the Three years LLB Law program are of graduation standard, while those asked for Five year BA.LLB (Hons) program and Five Year BA.LLB program are of high school level.
Eligibility Criteria
In case of BA (LLB) the candidates should have passed their 12thclass from any recognized university or college. The students who are awaiting their 12th class result can also opt for this exam. The candidates should have at least 45 % marks in the qualifying exam. There is reservation in case of SC/ST/OBC/PHP candidates where in they should have at least 40 % marks for applying to this exam. (50% marks in case of BA Hons).
In case of graduate candidates who are opting in for LLB can join if they have a qualifying mark of around 45% (40% in case of reserved categories). Those candidates who are doing their final year graduation are also eligible to apply for this post.
Age limit – The candidates should be 20 years of age which can be 22 in case of reserved categories.
For admission in CET Law exam, 85 % of seats for LLB course at CET are fully reserved for candidates who are the permanent residents of the Punjab state. The other 15% of seats are reserved for candidates of all the other states on an All India basis.
The candidates who are appearing for the final year degree or 12th class exams are entitled to show the pass certificates along with the standard percentage of marks specified to the concerned authorities at the time of admission. If the candidate who has applied for the course does not fulfill the eligibility criteria’s, the university reserves the right to cancel their candidature.
How to apply?
The candidates can receive or collect the application form from the office of the Punjab technical university from starting of the month of June. While filling in the application forms the candidates need to be careful by following all the general rules which are prescribed and should submit within the last date, otherwise they will be rejected. The candidate should draw a demand draft for certain amount (which is specified in the official site) in favour of the college along with all the necessary documents such as education certificates, photographs along with the application form should be sent to the concerned address before the specified time limit.
How to fill the Form?
The candidates should be very careful while filling in the application form. The candidate should fill in the application forms in Capital letters where ever necessary. Filling up the forms not according to the instructions given or prescribed will lead to rejection of the application itself. The candidates are entitled to go through the information brochure carefully before start filling in the form. The candidates should write in the applications with HB pencil or Ball point pen in spaces wherever specified.
The candidates should try to fill in the applications in a legible format without really trying to overwrite on information. Please take a note of the spaces where in they should paste their photographs and put their signature. The applications should reach the required place before the last date prescribed in the application. The candidates are requested only to send the applications in normal post or speed post whichever is specified in the application details.

Study Plan
Since this exam is one of the most competitive exam in the country, careful plan must be initiated in the beginning itself. The students have to focus on all the areas which will be available in the exam. The candidate should be able to have sound knowledge in all the areas which are needed to be studied. The candidates have many options for this.

The results of the CET exam will be available in the official website of Punjab Technical university. The link for obtaining this result is http://www.ptu.ac.in/. The candidate should enter his roll number for obtaining the result.
Score Validity
The score validity for this exam is considered to be valid for a period of 1 year.
