Ministry of Earth Sciences was established in the year 2006 under the Government of India. The ministry actually resulted after the merging of India Meterological Department, National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting, Indian Institute of Tropical Meterology and Earth Risk Evaluation Centre and Ministry of Ocean Development. Ministry of Earth Sciences is conisdered as one of the youngest ministries of the Government of India.
