Ministry of Water Resources is working under the Government of India and it is an apex body for administration and formulation of laws, regulations and rules pertaining to the regulation and development of water resources in the country.
The ministry formulates several schemes for the preservation and development of water resources in the country and some of the schemes and programs so far developed by the ministry are:

Functions of Ministry of Water Resources:
Ministry of Water Resources has been mandated with several functions by the Government of India and some of them are given below:
• Offering special central finance assistance for particular water resource related project and obtaining external finance from agencies like World Bank for the successful completion of the project
• Facilitation, mediation and coordination with respect to resolution of disputes or differences between inter-state rivers and sometimes overseeing of interstate projects for effective implementation
• Creation of national water development perspective and the determination of water balance of sub-basins and basins for checking the chances of transfer in between basins
