Get prepared for the Civil Services Exam
In recent times, there has been a shift among the mind of the individuals or students regarding the type of career that they need to enter in to. The recent developments in the education sector have changed the attitude of the candidates on a whole. Nowadays, more and more candidates are inclined towards selecting a career which is dominating and that too in the government sector. The career related to the government sectors may provide in the candidates an opportunities which will help the candidate to achieve better career prospects. A small change in the pattern of the exam signifies that the UPSC wants to select the correct candidates who have the ability to shine in all the various sections of the exam which are involved. As the numbers of subject areas which are involved in the Civil service exams are different and vast, it requires the candidates to have their preparation in all the major areas with correct focus on the specific areas. An area which requires the candidates to have a detailed study is that which is related to the general studies. The number of questions relating to the general studies has increased to almost to 60 questions. According to the recent pattern, the candidates need to score at least 320 marks in this area to emerge successful. It can be said that clearing the general studies area has been the most challenging task.
When we observe the previous year exams the candidates were not able to score high in the general studies area as the pattern and the areas from which the questions were asked was not expected as such. The candidates need to be updated about the various new happenings around the world if they want to score high. The candidates need to read the main newspapers which may cover in all the major news happening around. The candidates need to read the different editorials of the major newspapers which help the candidate to remain up to dated and also gain more knowledge.
Study Materials being crucial!
The need for cracking the civil service exams require the candidate to refer the most correct study materials as part of the preparation for the exam. It is mostly advised that the candidates should refer two or three major study materials instead of referring part of many materials. One should cover all the major areas of study materials instead of referring a whole lot of them. Statistics and Indian economy studies are also very important in this exam.
There may be questions relating to the Indian economy which may cover in almost all the important aspects and sectors relating to the Indian economy. A high score in the General studies area signifies that the candidates have high understanding about the various subjects which had being covered at the school level. NCERT books are available relating to the various subject areas relating to the general studies are a very good source for revising these subjects. IGNOU study materials are also very useful resources.
It’s been an encouraging factor is that many students who have attended the civil service exams for the first time has emerged successful. This signifies hoe hardworking had been the candidates and the presentation of the answers is also very crucial in this regard. Current affairs have been the most difficult areas to crack during this exam.
The candidates need to formulate ideas together with the subject knowledge that they gained during their studies. But apart from the subject area knowledge it requires the candidates to apply their analytical minds in the exams. UPSC always aims at testing the analytical and reasoning abilities of the candidates through this exam. The surprise elements in this exam will be always there and new and hence the candidates need to get prepared for this before they attempt this exam.
