Admission procedure for Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Maharashtra follows the single window system. The Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) will be carried out on the basis of the marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test (CET). Candidates are required to fulfill the specified eligibility criteria for appearing for CET.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate should appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the B.Ed course. The eligibility requirements for appearing for the Common Entrance Test are as follows:

Candidates should have completed a Bachelor’s or Post Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks for applying for CET. Candidates belonging to the reserved category should have obtained a minimum of 45% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

Candidates who have completed their graduation or post graduation from universities outside Maharashtra are also eligible to apply for CET. Such candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.

Candidates appearing for the final semester post graduate or graduate examination are also eligible to apply.

Admission procedure

Admission to the various colleges/institutions affiliated to universities in Maharashtra, offering a course in Bachelor of Education, is through the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP). Candidates are required to apply online.

The allotment process is based on the marks secured in the Common Entrance Test (CET).Three main areas are tested in the entrance examination.

  • Mental Ability
  • Teacher Aptitude
  • General Knowledge

The entrance test is for 50 marks. The examination follows the objective based multiple choice question format. Candidates are required to complete the examination within one hour. The medium followed will be Marathi or English. Candidates belonging to the general category and those who have completed their education from universities outside Maharashtra should obtain a minimum of 18 marks to qualify. Candidates belonging to the Backward Communities should obtain a minimum of 15 marks in the entrance exam.

Those candidates seeking admission in English medium colleges /institutions are required to write the English Language Content Test (ELCT). ELCT carries a total of 50 marks. Candidates are required to secure a minimum of 36%, that is, 18 marks in the English Language Content Test for admission to colleges offering B. Ed in the English medium.

The merit list will be prepared according to the marks secured in the entrance examination. Candidates will be called for interview according to the order of merit.

Allocation of seats in various colleges follows the rules and guidelines laid by the government. Candidates can seek admission to aided and unaided government colleges offering B.Ed course. Admission to non-government colleges is also based on the centralized allotment process. Seats are also available in minority colleges. Candidates can also seek admission through the management quota.
