How to become Judgement Writer?
Judgement writers are required to be efficient in shorthand and transcribing. They are also required to be proficient in using computers. Judgement writers are required to have adequate knowledge in using word processing and spreadsheets. Candidates will need to clear test which will cover all these areas. Graduates with any area of specialisation can apply. The age limit to apply is 21-30 years.
Eligibility Criteria to become Judgement Writer
Education Qualification
Graduates can apply for the Judgement Writer post. Candidates with any area of specialisation from recognised institute can apply. They should be proficient in operating computers. Most of the work will require the candidates to work in word processing and spread sheets. They should also be proficient in Shorthand and transcribing the same on computer. The speed required for taking down the dictation is 120 w.p.m. The same should be transcribed on the computer at a speed of 24 w.p.m. The medium of language is English. So proficiency in the language is a must.
Age Requirement
The minimum age requirement is 21 years and the maximum age requirement is 30 years. For ex-servicemen the relaxation will depend on the number of years of service. In addition to this they will get additional 3 years relaxation. The age relaxation for physically challenged candidates is 10 years. For candidates working in Corporations, Boards, Semi Government and Government Departments the maximum age limit is 35 years. They would need to submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ which should be issued by their employer.
Selection Procedure to become Judgement Writer
First the candidates will need to appear for the test in Shorthand and transcribing. The duration of the test is 10 minutes. The speed in taking down dictation and transcribing will be tested in this round. Also the candidates should not have committed more 5% mistakes. After this round the proficiency in using Word processing and Spread Sheets will be tested.
Salary and Emoluments
The salary will depend on the qualification and the years of experience of the candidates selected. For fresher’s the salary will be around Rs. 10000- 15000/-. For experienced candidates the salary will be around Rs 15000 to 30000. In addition to this candidates will be given grade pay. In some cases they will also be given allowances.
Application Procedure
The registrar of each state will issue notification depending on the vacancies. The application fees will also vary depending on the state issuing the notification. In a recent notification from Punjab & Haryana High Court the application fees was Rs. 500/-.
