Civil engineering can be said to be a department of professional engineering that is concerned with the design, manufacture as well as repairs of man made and natural structures around us. These include bridges, buildings, dams and rods etc.

The responsibility of a civil engineer also includes the construction of good quality systems of transport such as railway lines, highways and most importantly, airports. More details about why civil engineering has this much importance in our lives is given below.

How to enter this field?

The B.Tech in Civil Engineering course is taught by many Indian engineering colleges. To join this course following criteria’s need to be satisfied

  • Students need to have more than 65 percent marks in the admission test in engineering that is carried out in the state level or the national level
  • The qualification needed to appear for this exam is above 60 percent marks in class 10+2.
  • It is required for applicants to have studied Biology or Computer science.

The IIT JEE, AIEEE and the UPSEE are some of the admission tests in the field of engineering.

Engineering in Civil:

The graduate course in Civil Engineering has duration of 4 years and is divided into 8 semesters. The responsibility of a civil engineer includes the designing as well as planning of concrete buildings, bridges and other structures. It is also their duty to execute the project at a reasonable scale.  Aspirants of this field need to have a good analytical mind. They must have the ability to understand the finer aspects of all things easily. Besides this, they must also have good communication with the members of their team. This is basically and most importantly required for the proper execution of their projects.

Importance of Civil Engineering:

We can witness in our country the development of roads, buildings and other structures. The main intention behind this is to not only make the lives of people easier and secure, but also to beautify our surroundings in a stronger and better way. For the successful completion of all the aforementioned jobs, specialists in civil engineering are needed.

Due to the increase in construction sites in our country, the demands for civil engineers are high as well. This can also be one of the reasons why students of today are opting for civil engineering.

Career opportunities for these professionals are available with firms of both the private and public sectors. Besides this, job opportunities are obtainable for them abroad too. With the recent boom in the construction industry, the infrastructural growth within the country has gone up. The career scopes for civil engineers are many and they can get very lucrative careers.
