Higher Education in Tripura had only a late state and the first degree college in the state started functioning only in the year of Indian independence under the University of Calcutta. Even though, efforts were made for establishment of a degree college as early as 1901, it got materialized only in the year 1947 with the establishment of Maharaja Bir Bikram College. After this many colleges were established in the state and with a view to bring about further development to the educational scenario of the state, Tripura University was established on the 2nd of October 1987 on the auspicious day of birth day of the father of the nation.

Most of the colleges in the states are now affiliated to the Tripura University, which has a number of colleges offering education under different categories like colleges offering PG Courses, College offering technical courses, professional degree colleges and General Degree Colleges.

BCA from Tripura:

There are only a few BCA colleges in the state of Tripura and even though the number of college BCA colleges is lesser, the colleges are known to offer the best education for computer applications. Also, the colleges are served by professional and experienced teachers in such a way that students can clear their doubts then and there with the help of the professors and lecturers. Even, some colleges have arranged for career guidance cell to the students in helping them in planning their future job prospects and higher education opportunities.
